Frequently asked questions about battery replacement

Why are hearing aid batteries colour coded?

Colour-coding makes it easier to choose the right battery for your device, helping you identify which is the right size for you, no matter the brand. The four main sizes of hearing aid batteries are identifiable by the colour of their tabs – yellow, brown, orange and blue.

How often should hearing aid batteries be changed?

Depending on your hearing aid model and level of usage, your batteries will need to be changed every five to fourteen days. Rechargeable batteries don’t require changing but do need to be regularly charged.

How can I maximise the life of my hearing aid battery?

Turn off your hearing device when not in use and leave the battery compartment door open overnight. This will help the keep battery power from being wasted and will also allow any moisture to evaporate overnight.
